Join the WSS

The Wisconsin Speleological Society (WSS) is the Wisconsin chapter of the National Speleological Society (NSS), a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization with no paid staff. Our activities are run by dedicated volunteers and funded by donations. 

Our diverse membership includes geologists, weekend warriors, and newsletter subscribers of all ages. Joining the WSS is a fun and affordable hobby. 

Join us at the monthly WSS meetings, typically held at the Ledge View Nature Center in winter and Cherney Maribel Caves County Park in summer. Meetings are usually on the 3 rd. Saturday of each month at 10:00 am, but locations may vary. Check the WSS online calendar or The Hollow Earth News for updates. Everyone is welcome, so feel free to ask questions and participate in our activities. Our shared passion for caves brings us together.

To join the Wisconsin Speleological Society, individuals over 18 can submit the application and payment online. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must

complete the membership form and sign next to your name. It is required to also become a member of the National Speleological Society within one year of joining the

Grotto.
